STATEMENT FROM THE CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF BLACK SCHOOL EDUCATORS REGARDING CALIFORNIA STATE GOVERNOR NEWSOM’S PROPOSED 2021-2022 BUDGET
Today the California Association for Black School Educators (CABSE) announced that it was selected to received a scholarship from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (Gates Foundation) to advance its capacity building efforts and Blueprint Strategy to close Black student opportunity gap. Specifically, the 2-year grant will fund, inclusive of its annual CABSE Conference and the creation of regional CABSE Institutes.
CABSE Seeks COVID-19 Relief and Funding Flexibility for Schools
CABSE joins with several organizations to urge the California Caucus to fight to protect the fiscal stability of our state’s education system. Specifically, we suggest that Congress look to the $100 billion in education funding provided in the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act as a model and consider that many economists predict COVID-19 will have a more deleterious and swift impact than the Great Recession.
